Our Mission

Provide books for our community to prepare all Gilmer preschool children for reading and learning success.

 Profile

On March 16, 2007, Gilmer County formed a Community Action Team, known as "Kids Ferst", with the purpose of getting books in the hands of all our preschool children. The books are mailed out on a monthly basis, free of charge. This team is working to improve early literacy for every child regardless of race, religion, income or gender. Reading regularly with children during their preschool years gives them the biggest boost toward a successful education they will ever receive.
